FELIX "TUTO" ZABALA JR

I was born on March 12, 1968 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. As a Young boy I played both   basketball and baseball. When I was 13 my family moved to Miami. There I began working for my father’s Boxing promotional company. My daily task consisted of me putting up posters in different parts of Miami, sending out mailings, and working the corners as an assistant to the head trainers of  several fighters promoted by my father. By age 14 I worked the corner of my world title fight. It was Colombian bóxer Mario Miranda against Puerto Rican bóxer Juan Laporte at the famed Madison Square Garden.

    When I turned 18 and I was able to secure my Managers  license. As a birthday gift to me my father allowed me to manage a few of his fighters that were under his promotion. They were Superflyweight Sugar Baby Rojas and lightheavyweight contender Fredy Delgado. Rojas went on to win the WBC World title under my guidance.  I would continue on after that managing fighters and working as an assistant trainers for my father’s promotional company for boxers of the legendary  Hall of Famers Amilcar Brusa and Angelo Dundee.

At this point I was working in my father’s promotion fulltime and involved in multiple aspects of the buisness and learning on the job. I was involved in 14 shows a year for Univision and 12 for Galavision. I was doing work as both a producer and TV commentator. I teamed up with former world champions Miguel “Happy” Lora, Sugar Baby Rojas, Luis “Chicanero” Mendoza, Juan Polo Perez, Elvis Alvarez on the telecast.

   

I worked with Don King Productions for Mike Tyson’s fights after being release from prison in 1995. The fights I worked were Tyson versus the following. ? Peter McNeally  Buster Mathis Jr., Bruce Seldon,  his rematch with Frank Bruno and both Holyfield fights.

In the summer of 1999 I was  hired by the NFL and became the General Manager of the Barcelona Dragons of the NFL Europe. I had almost completed 2 years in the position when sadly january 8, 2001 while on Christmas break I was informed my father had suffered a massive stroke which left him bedridden from then until now present.  At that point I made the difficult decisión and resigned to take over my father’s business.  until  

He came back, Family was first, in March of 2001 started running the successful series “Boxeo Telemundo” of the Telemundo Network running 12 shows per year until today and having record breaking ratings on National Television. He has also co promoted PPV events, HBO, Showtime, ESPN and Unimas in different parts of the globe.

During all this period as head of All Star Boxing, Inc, he was also Director of Boxing for Don King Productions (2002-2004), was a Boxing Producer for the last 3 Olympics, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012 for NBC/Telemundo.

Also  Promoted the first combination of Father and Son World Champions with Wilfredo Vazquez Jr and Sr., also he promoted or co promoted former world champions Oscar “Chololo” Larios, Jorge Linares, Edwin Valero, Carlos Maussa, Jesus Gelez, Alejandro “Payasito” Hernandez and Merlito Sabillo amongst others. The Company also was the one who discovered in Mexico at age 17 superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and is currently in an ongoing litigation with the fighter for breaching contract and company Golden Boy Promotions for torturous interferience. His parents where born in Cuba and came to Puerto Rico in 1961 when communism stoke their country, Tuto Zabala was a Boxing Promoter for over 37 years before his illness, Mother Carmen Rego de Zabala help his husband in their Family business and took care of him bedside until her passing on March    6, 2014. Known to friends and Family as “Tutico” (Little Tuto),  got married in Monteria, Colombia June 17, 1988 with Soraya Puche de Zabala and have 2 kids, Soraya (25) and Felix “Tutiking” Zabala (19). The Family also enjoy pets and have 3 maltese dogs, Father Casper, Mother Channel and their daughter Chiquis.

Has been with All Star Boxing, Inc over a decade, he runs day to day operations for All Star. His home base is Orlando, Florida
